St. Petersburg Sleep Apnea
From LoveToKnow Sleep
St. Petersburg sleep apnea patients have several well-known facilities to treat their sleep apnea. Sleep clinics are available at two major hospitals in town as well as a major dental center. All of these centers have professionals experienced in sleep apnea to treat this sleep disorder.
St. Petersburg Sleep Apnea
St. Petersburg sleep apnea specialists can be found in private practice, working in sleep clinics in local hospitals and affiliated with local dental centers. If your sleep order has not been diagnosed you might want to start with a center that has, or is associated with, a sleep center.
A sleep center will be able to give you an overnight sleep test, which is a key diagnostic tool for sleep physicians and technicians. If you are diagnosed with sleep apnea during your sleep test, you will also be able to determine whether a CPAP machine is your best course of treatment or whether your sleep apnea can be alleviated by wearing a dental appliance while you sleep.
St. Petersburg Sleep Disorders Center
The St. Petersburg Sleep Disorders Center at Palms of Pasadena Hospital was founded in 1985 by Dr. Neil T. Feldman, a Diplomat of the American Board of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Feldman is an expert in various sleep disorders including sleep apnea, narcolepsy and insomnia.
The Center provides an initial evaluation, which includes an overnight sleep study. Based on the results of the sleep study, Dr. Feldman will make a diagnosis and work with the patient to establish the best course of treatment. The Center works with patients who have been referred based on a wide range of sleeping problems including:

The Center works with patients in many types of sleep disorders including:

The Center also provides support through a monthly AWAKE (Alert, Well and Keeping Energetic) Support Group is offered to sleep apnea patients and their families. International Center for Complete Dentistry
Some people diagnosed with sleep apnea may not need a CPAP machine and mask. Instead, their sleep specialist may suggest a dental appliance. The International Center for Complete Dentistry is a world-known dental clinic and the home of the Dawson Academy.
Five dentists and prosthodontists and a team of technicians in the Center's in-house lab can create a custom-fitted oral appliance to alleviate the symptoms of sleep apnea. The appliance is designed to reposition the jaw during sleep so that the space in the airway is maximized during sleep, alleviating the airway blockage that causes the apneas. Frequently a physician will recommend this type of appliance instead of prescribing a CPAP machine with a low-pressure setting.
To schedule an appointment, contact the Center at:
- 111 Second Avenue NE, Suite 1104
- St. Petersburg, Florida 33701
- (727) 821-4433
